Field Trips and End of Year
'Tis the season for field trips! So far, Lorrie and I have taken our kids to Lamoureux Park/Splashpad and the Aquatic Centre and today we went to the Native North American Traveling College on Cornwall Island. What an amazing experience!
I was quite fearful, when booking our trip to the NNATC, that it wouldn't be engaging enough for the kids or they simply wouldn't like the experience and would act as such. I could not have been more wrong! Smiles were everywhere and kids were excited to see artifacts, displays, and learn the creation story. They listened to our hosts and enjoyed exploring the items which were presented to them.
While I would have liked to have seen more hands-on activities, for the hour and a half for which we were there, what was presented to us was fantastic! I strongly recommend that anyone and everyone take a trip over to the island and explore what the NNATC has to offer.
Next up, next week, a trip to the Aquatic Centre (maybe picnic lunch first), followed by the Splash Pad/park/Aquatic Centre on June 15th and the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa on June 19th.
Our final experience will come at our year end Mass when my kids will, once again, provide the music for our mass. I will sing for the grade 6s after they have been presented with their diplomas, with a little help from my kiddos! I'm sad to do this one. I will greatly miss some of the grade 6s, they have been with me since grade 1, in some way, shape, or form. While I am excited to see what the future holds for them, I really don't want them to leave. How am I supposed to get through the year without my Ava hugs? She has been a consistent source of hugs since 2017! I have literally watched her grow from an unsure little 6 year old, into a beautiful, confident, 11 year old.
The growth which occurs every year is sometime much more difficult. For these kiddos, I will sing my heart out, because they own a VERY large portion of my heart!
